A lot of people delegate access to their Gmail account to ensure messages are replied to and managed. This is a very powerful feature for Executives and/or people heading out of town for an extended period of time.
Google has recently released a new feature that enhances the email delegation function. Users now have the ability to determine whether the message that is being opened on a delegated account is marked as read or left as unread. This feature is very helpful for the person that has delegated his or her account out so they now know which messages have been attended to and which messages still need attention.
If email delegation has been turned on by your administrator via the Admin Control Panel, users can simply click on the ‘gear’ in the upper right hand corner of their inbox to access their ‘Mail Settings’ and select ‘Accounts.’
Once you have reached the ‘Accounts’ options, locate the ‘Grant access to your account’ section to enable the option to have your conversations marked as read when opened by others or leave as unread when opened by others. Select the setting accordingly.
