CushyCMS has a new take on content management systems: Allow web designers to make any portion of their page editable in a browser. I have just signed up for the closed beta (thanks TechCrunch), and I am building a simple test site as we speak, so I will have more to report later. Until then, here is a video showcasing this new and free service, which is slated to go live on the 15th of this month.

It seems to be exactly what I’ve been looking for (as writing the content management system myself is above my knowledge), would be following the post waiting for your review:)

That’s neat. I was looking for something like this a few weeks ago and found Snippet Master. The website is not as slick, nor is the actual interface, but I tested the app and it works remarkably well. It messes a bit with your html, but there’s a check box which will keep the code valid. And it is hosted on your server.

I’ve been looking for something easy for clients as well. This seems great, except I’m not sure if a client can add their own page from scratch? For example, if we have a news section, can they add the news, or do I have to set up the page in Cushy CMS every time? Does anyone know?
The goal is to have the client update the site and I would only provide technical assistance as needed.

You have to add a class to a html element on the page to make it editable. So your client would not be able to create a new page using this solution.
They have released a new paid version of this service as well with extended features, but I have not had a chance to check it out yet.
I am using CushyCMS for a current client, so I will try and post my thoughts after the project is complete.
