It is necessary to have your website Search Engine Optimized if you are at all serious about using the web as a marketing tool. If you do not take the time to make sure your website is highly visible by the search engines, you could find little to no traffic to your website, and as a result, your site will not perform up to your expectations. One of the main goals of your business’s website should be bring in new customers from the web, and this is done primarily through search engines.Â
There are two ways to show up in a Search Engine Results Page (SERP):
1. Organic Search Results - These are the results that appear naturally in a search engine. The search engine has decided which sites are most relevant to the word or words typed into the search engine query. The top results are considered to be the most credible to a typical web user. Top position can mean high traffic and big bucks for a business.Â
2. Sponsored Search Results - Websites can pay to have their results listed beside, above, or among the Organic Search Results. These “sponsored” or “paid” search results are often clearly marked to separate themselves from the natural results. Users do not always consider these links to be as credible as the organic results, but they are still highly effective. This technique is an easy way to gain immediate exposure if you are just starting your SEO campaign or if you just deployed your company’s website.
Effective SEO will employ both methods mentioned above to gain maximum search engine exposure.
